With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, stores are getting busy and love birds are scratching their heads trying to figure out gift ideas for their partner this year.
We’ve compiled a list of Valentine’s Day gift ideas that show your significant other you care, but won’t force you into credit card debt.
Flowers
While flowers are a staple of Valentine’s Day, they’re a timeless way to show appreciation for your loved one and you don’t have to get expensive red roses either! Pick any type of flower that your partner likes and bring it to their door. Grocery stores often sell bouquets that are beautiful and inexpensive.
Special candle
Candles scream romance (even for men) and create a good atmosphere to spend the holiday with your partner. Pick a scent that they like and burn it while you spend quality time together. Once your romantic evening is over, they’ll remember the time spent together whenever they use the candle you picked for them.
Picture in a frame
What’s better than reflecting on a happy moment you shared with your partner? Head over to your nearest Staples to print off a photo from a special day or moment in your relationship and frame it (Amazon have inexpensive good quality picture frames). Your partner will appreciate the sentiment behind the gift, and you both can reflect on the memory the photo encapsulates.
Matching pyjamas or robes
Matching with your loved one on Valentine’s Day is a great way to kick back and relax. You can enjoy your gift and have a lazy night in. Whether you’re parked in front of the television watching a romantic movie or enjoying a heart-shaped pizza, your matching pyjamas or robes will keep you warm and happy together.
Cook for your significant other
On the theme of enjoying a night in on Valentine’s Day, you can create a romantic ambiance for your partner and you to celebrate with a home-cooked meal. Whether it’s fettuccine Alfredo, or a sweet treat, cooking for your significant other is the ultimate act of romance.
Self-care gift basket
Gift baskets are always a good way to go about gift-giving, no matter the contents. Yet your partner will feel really seen and cared for if they have a basket full of things to help them take care of themselves. Face masks, lotion, bath bombs, sweet treats, perfume or cologne, are all good items to include in a gift basket for your partner. And one of the best parts is that you can customize it to match their interests.
Customized coupons
Kiss and hug coupons are also very popular to gift your partner on Valentine’s Day, but since it’s free why not kick it up a notch? Turn the coupon for a free kiss into a coupon for a free massage. Turn that coupon for a free hug into a coupon for a free ‘take out the garbage’ coupon. Anything that would help your partner is a great way to show them gratitude and that you’re there for them.
Chocolate
Chocolate is always the way to someone’s heart, and if your significant other has a sweet tooth then this is a great route to take for Valentine’s Day. While you’re not breaking the bank by buying chocolates, be sure to buy your partner’s favourite brand of chocolate or type. Peanut butter, caramel, milk, white, and dark chocolate, are all good options as long as you cater it to your significant other.
Stuffy
No matter your age, receiving a teddy bear or your favourite stuffed animal always feels good, especially from your significant other on Valentine’s Day. Stuffed animals range in price and can be selected based on how much you’d like to spend. If your partner and you live apart, it’s a good reminder they’re with you even when you’re apart.
Mug
Since Valentine’s Day occurs as winter’s in full swing, you can’t go wrong with a gift that can help keep your partner warm. You can purchase inexpensive mugs from many department stores, even the dollar store. You can pair a mug with a packet of hot chocolate, coffee pods, or tea bags, whatever is appealing to your significant other.
There are many inexpensive ways to show your significant other that you love and care for them. So go ahead and put together a gift for your love, and don’t forget a card!
