Toronto band The Beaches performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week, and if you’re only just learning about them because of their hit song ‘Blame Brett’, you need to go back and listen to some of the older (and better) songs in their catalogue.
The Beaches have been around since 2013 with their first full album, Late Show, dropping in 2017. Produced by Emily Haines and Jame Shaw of Metric, Late Show gave them a number one hit in Canada and earned them the Breakthrough Group of the Year at the 2018 Juno Awards.

The band followed up Late Show with two EPs; The Professional in 2019 and Future Lovers in 2021. Then came the album Blame My Ex in 2023, which is where ‘Blame Brett’ comes into the picture and is the reason they are now superstars not only in Canada, but also the U.S. and other parts of the world (they’re selling out shows in Australia right now).
While ‘Blame Brett’ is a fun, catchy song, it’s not their best. Here are five songs by The Beaches that are better than ‘Blame Brett’.
T-Shirt
‘T-Shirt’ is their number one song off the album Late Show, and is certified Gold in Canada. It still gets airplay on rock radio up here, and is still a banger.
Money
‘Money’ was another single released off Late Show, and while it didn’t hit number one like ‘T-Shirt’ did, it still gets lots of airplay on radio in Canada and is a solid track.
Let’s Go
Off their Future Lovers EP, ‘Let’s Go’ is extremely catchy while also giving a nice shoutout to Toronto right off the top.
Blow Up
‘Blow Up’ is also off the Future Lovers EP and has a more grungy sound to it than some of their other tracks. It’s still a catchy song, and if you don’t find yourself bopping along to it you’re dead inside.
Grow Up Tomorrow
This is the song that should have sent The Beaches into superstardom down south. Released as a single in 2022, it’s another catchy track that is just as fun to dance and sing-along to as ‘Blame Brett’ is.
