Artur Maleszka of Brampton won a LOTTO 6/49 prize worth $1 million in the Gold Ball Draw on November 22, 2023.
Artur, who works in customer service, says he has been playing the lottery for as long as he can remember.
“I’ve been playing my own numbers since 2012. I use family birthdays for numbers,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I asked the retailer to check my ticket and as soon as she scanned it, it said I was a major winner. I spoke with OLG and I was shocked and in disbelief!”
“My wife is the first person I told about the win. I think she was in disbelief too. We were both so shocked,” the 46-year-old father of three said.
Artur is still coming up with a plan for his winnings and may make a few investments.
“This is a good chunk of money that will definitely make my life easier,” he concluded.
LOTTO 6/49 offers players a chance to win two multi-million dollar jackpots every Wednesday and Saturday, for the same $3 per play.
The Classic Draw offers a fixed $5 million jackpot for every draw, while the Gold Ball Draw guarantees a $1 million prize, or the growing jackpot that starts at $10 million and can exceed $60 million.
The winning ticket was purchased at Euromax Foods on Main Street in Brampton.
