The Missed List is a roundup of movies and TV shows you should have watched at home last month but probably didn’t.
These are the January 2024 home releases we highly recommend checking out if you missed them.
Loudermilk (Netflix Canada)
If you’re looking for a smart comedy series to binge, nothing is better than Loudermilk lately. The show, which stars Ron Livingston as the title character, deals with addiction in a funny, yet real and sometimes heartbreaking way. The three seasons of Loudermilk originally ran between 2017 and 2020, and unless a miracle happens that is all we’re getting it seems. Loudermilk arrived on Netflix Canada on January 1.
Strays (Prime Video Canada)
January is a dark, depressing month and Strays was exactly what we needed to put a smile on our faces. Don’t be fooled thinking it’s just a movie about talking dogs because Strays is extremely vulgar and sometimes downright ridiculous. But if you’re feeling blah this is the movie to watch. Strays debuted on Prime Video Canada on January 11.
Self Reliance (Paramount+ Canada)
Self Reliance is Jake Johnson’s directorial debut and is produced by The Lonely Island team. About a man who ends up partaking in a dark web game show where he has to survive being hunted for a month in order to win a million dollars, the movie is quite weird while also being hilarious at times. Anna Kendrick also stars and Andy Samberg has a small role as himself. Self Reliance premiered on Paramount+ Canada on January 12.
June (Paramount+ Canada)
Even if you’re not a fan of country music, this documentary on June Carter Cash is so well put together you’ll be wanting to learn more about this amazing woman who ended up spending most of her life in Johnny Cash’s shadow. June premiered on Paramount+ Canada on January 16.
American Nightmare (Netflix Canada)
American Nightmare is a true crime docuseries about a couple who went through a traumatic home invasion and kidnapping in 2015 only to be accused of faking it all. You will be on the edge of your seat throughout the three episodes. American Nightmare premiered on Netflix Canada on January 17.
