If you’ve waited till the last minute to buy gifts for your loved ones this Christmas you now only have a few hours remaining before the stores close on Christmas Eve.
Here are some last minute gift ideas that will help save you this Christmas.
Gift card
A gift card is more personable than money and you can buy one for almost anything these days, even online. These gift cards will cover off mostly anyone on your list:
If all else fails go with a prepaid VISA or MasterCard that can be used anywhere.
Subscription to a service
Gifting a subscription to a service is another easy and great idea and some even have sales on right now, like Paramount+ Canada and NordVPN. Other subscription gift ideas worth considering include Audible, Prime Video, Spotify, SiriusXM, Disney+, Netflix, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Nintendo Switch Online.
Alcohol
You can get most of your shopping done at a liquor store and they are all open on Christmas Eve. Gift a nice bottle of wine, rum, whisky or gin, or go with a selection of Canadian craft beer or spirits that they’ve never heard of to blow them away (especially something local to your area).
Lotto tickets
If you’re going to buy lotto tickets as gifts choose something other than Lotto Max or Lotto 6/49.
Merry Millions is an Ontario-only $20 ticket that’s limited to 500,000 tickets. It offers the chance to win one of three $1 million jackpots on January 9.
Scratch tickets are an even better idea, and the $100 Ultimate offers a chance to win up to $100,000 instantly and also $1 million during a draw on January 4. The $50 Mega ticket or the $20 Instant Gift Pack are also excellent options.
Digital entertainment
Buying a digital movie, game or book as a gift is something most people don’t think about as it can be trickier to do (and sometimes a gift card is a better way to go). Codes for digital games like Super Mario Bros. Wonder can be purchased on Amazon, and if you want to gift a movie, app or book on Apple you can by selecting “Gift this item” from the share button for the product in the App Store, iTunes Store or Book Store apps.
Something used
If you don’t want to be bothered going out to a store at all this late in the game, finding something used (and unique) on Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace is an even better idea. Go with something vintage or rare and your loved ones will think you spent way more time planning it than you actually did.
