There were no winners for the Friday, February 16 Lotto Max or the Saturday, February 17 Lotto 6/49 jackpots, and now they’ve ballooned to a combined $120 million, plus additional prizes.
The Tuesday, February 20 Lotto Max jackpot is an estimated $70 million along with 10 $1 million Maxmillions draws. The last time the Lotto Max jackpot hit $70 million was on Tuesday, January 16, 2024.
Brian Hoover from the small-town of Beaverlodge, Alberta won the January 16 jackpot. One of his plans with the money was to have a park named after his late wife.
“I want to make sure I do good things. Using this money and investing in her memory is a way to share this win with her,” Hoover said in a press release.
Hoover also said he was going to help his family pay their mortgages, sponsor some sort of program for local schools, and visit a friend in the Yukon by driving up “in a classy motorhome.”

For the Lotto 6/49 draw on Wednesday, February 21, the draw machine is now down to nine white balls, each worth $1 million, and one Gold Ball worth $50 million. That’s a one in 10 chance of winning the Gold Ball Guaranteed Prize on top of the $5 million Classic draw.
The last time the Gold Ball Guaranteed Prize jackpot hit $50 million was on December 6, 2023. It was won by a group of three friends in Calgary, the first time anyone in Alberta won it.
“We’ve been friends for over 20 years and started buying tickets together 17 years ago,” said Gary Perkins while claiming the prize. “Buying tickets was just a fun thing for us to do; winning together is what makes it so special.”
Splitting the prize by three, each friend walked away with $16.6 million.
“I haven’t been able to get too far past just sharing with family,” Perkins added. “It’s hard to wrap your head around this much money!”
Home with Brian will have the winning lotto numbers posted as soon as they are announced this week.
