If you’re a social media-savvy thrill-seeker who wants a chance to capture the solar eclipse from an amazing location on April 8, there’s a great opportunity for you and your BFF from Days Inn by Wyndham.
The economy hotel brand is holding a “Solar Sun-ternship” contest that comes with a trip to San Antonio, Texas from April 7 – 9 where you will get the chance to experience the total solar eclipse on April 8 in a helicopter from a vantage point of the path of totality. All you need to do in return is capture photos and videos of the experience for Days Inn to share on social media.
Along with airfare and accommodations, the prize includes $5,000 each for you and your BFF, a professional photography lesson, travel stipend, Wyndham Rewards Diamond membership, and a bunch of Days Inn swag.
The April 8 total solar eclipse is considered a “once in a generation occurrence” as the next total solar eclipse is not anticipated until 2044.
In order to qualify for the Days Inn “Solar Sun-ternship” contest you must be over 18, a resident of Canada (excluding Quebec) or the U.S., you and your BFF have to live in the same country, and you must have a passion for photography and social media, and be comfortable working from heights.

- The full names of both individuals in the pair.
- Both places of residency in the U.S. or Canada (excluding Quebec).
- Email address for both individuals in the pair.
- Social media profiles of both participants.
- One (1) original sun-filled photo of a sunrise, sunset or landscape.
- One (1) photo of your duo; the two candidates entering the contest.
- One (1) 250-word maximum essay describing a) your relationship (couples, partner, friends, family, etc.) and b) why you are the ideal candidates for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
- Preferred but not required: Any relevant links to photography gallery showcasing previous work.
