As Canadians prepare to boycott the Loblaw grocery chain and their affiliate brands for the entire month of May, the Toronto comedy group Opera Revue have released a hilarious anthem in support of it.
A parody of ‘At the End of the Day’ from Les Misérables, Les MisérLoblaws covers everything from the bread price-fixing scandal to the excuses the Weston family have made over the high prices at their stores.
“We chose the music of Les Misérables to ‘parody’ because the anger, starvation, and desperation that existed in revolutionary France is becoming an all too familiar scene here in Canada,” said Opera Revue performer Alexander Hajek.
“Food bank usage is up at an alarming rate while grocery chain monopolies are posting record profits. Price gouging will be met with public ridicule and hopefully a meaningful boycott.”
