Health Canada has issued a recall for two portable power stations over a fire and burn hazard risk.
The recall involves the Klein Tools Portable Power Station (model number KTB1000) and the Blackfire Portable Power Station (model number PAC1000). Both units are black and orange and have the name and model number printed on the front. The Blackfire unit also has a stylized flame logo.
The units provide portable battery power with an inverter board to convert DC battery power to AC for household devices.
The top and bottom of the internal inverter boards of the power stations can overheat, which Health Canada says poses the fire and burn hazard risk.
There have been no reports of overheating or injury in Canada.
Health Canada says consumers should stop using the products immediately and “dispose of lithium-ion batteries according to local municipal transportation and waste requirements for lithium-ion batteries.”
In order to get a refund, customers should contact Klein Tools at 1-800-553-4876 or by email at KTB1000PAC1000recall@kleintools.com with the serial number of the power station and verification that the power station has been recycled. Proof of purchase should also be supplied if available.
Health Canada recalled some Anker EverFrost Powered Coolers over a similar potential fire risk back in November.
