If you own a Whirlpool or KitchenAid dishwasher you could be eligible for a potential class action lawsuit claim over an alleged defect in certain models.
The defect is over a part allegedly not functioning properly and causing water leaks while the dishwasher is running. This has caused a proposed national class action lawsuit in Canada against Whirlpool and Home Depot to retrieve compensation.

The claim states that damages caused by these water leaks can include cost of repairing property, the cost of service calls and replacing the defective part, and the cost of replacing the dishwasher itself before its operating life expectancy is over, potentially exceeding its market value to replace.
Models from Whirlpool, KitchenAid, JennAir, Kenmore, and Maytag for years 2013 to 2023 and ongoing are all listed in the proposed lawsuit. The affected models are:
- Whirlpool: BLB14DR, IUD750, IUD850, WDF5, WDF7, WDL785, WDT7, WDT9, WDTA5, WDTA7
- KitchenAid: KDFE1, KDFE3, KDFE4, KDTE1, KDTE2, KDTE3, KDTE4, KDTE5, KDTE7, KDTM3, KUDE2, KUDE4, KUDE5, KUDE7, KUDL, KDPE2
- JennAir: JDB8, JDB9, JDTSS2
- Kenmore: 662.13, 665.13, 665.14, 665.15
- Maytag: JDB8
If you bought a dishwasher from these manufacturers with the same model years at Home Depot or another retailer, and live in Canada, you could be eligible for the class action lawsuit.
