Monday, March 25
- U.S. New Home Sales – 10 a.m.: The number of homes sold in the past month. A small glimpse into trends in the housing market.
Tuesday, March 26
- U.S. CB Consumer Confidence – 10 a.m.: The Conference Board releases the results of a survey ranking the overall sentiment towards economic conditions. A ground level indicator of overall financial health.
- Mega Millions lottery draw – 11 p.m.: The jackpot for Tuesday’s Mega Millions lottery in the U.S. is an estimated $1.1 billion US.
Thursday, March 28
- U.S. & Canadian GDP – 8:30 a.m.: Gross Domestic Product, month over month. A very “high level” indication of a country’s financial health.
- U.S. Pending Home Sales – 10 a.m.: This is a leading indicator of the housing market and tends to have an echoing effect on other sectors, such as money spent on home renovations and bank financing.
Friday, March 29
- Good Friday (stat holiday): Canadian and American stock exchanges and most financial institutions are closed.
- U.S. Core PCE Price Index – 8:30 a.m.: The Personal Consumption Expenditures data is a clear picture into inflationary trends, month over month. This also lends insight into consumer spending trends.
- U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Speech – 11:30 a.m.: Reserve Chair Jerome Powell is set to participate in a panel discussion at a conference in San Francisco. Often speeches by high level politicians and central bank members can give clues toward future policy decisions and current sentiment.
